 Jeffrey
Garbus, Ceo and founder of
Soaring Eagle Consulting
Jeff has been
consulting on and performing technical training for MS SQL
Server since 1989, Version 4, on OS/2, and Sybase ASE
since release 4.0.1. Since then, he has worked extensively
with each release of the product, specializing in
performance and tuning, from concept through legacy
system, on systems of all sizes, from small start-up
company applications to multi-terabyte data warehouses.
Jeff has been working on large-scale systems for most of
that time, having tuned a 100-gig/week throughput
application on MS SQL Server 6, and created one of the
first ASE data warehouses. Jeff's background includes work
experience from PC's to Mainframes and back again, in all
aspects of IT, from developer, to DBA Manager, to IT
Executive. His specialty is performance and tuning with a
special emphasis on large-scale projects with very large
databases. He is very well known in the industry, having
spoken at user conferences and user groups for many years,
written articles and columns for many magazines nationally
and internationally, as well as having written over a
dozen books.

Ray Rannala,
Director of Business Development
Ray Rannala, Soaring Eagle’s Director
of business development has nearly 15 years of experience
in the professional services industry. Drawing upon
this experience, Ray holds primary responsibility for
leading sales, marketing and growing the company to the
next level. Prior to joining the leadership team at
Soaring Eagle Consulting, Ray was a Regional Sales
Director for Ernst & Young LLP a “Big 5” consulting
responsible for leading a sales team in selling consulting
services to middle market clients in the Southeast.
After E&Y Mr. Rannala was a sales leader for the
Professional Services group at Computer Associates where
he sold complex technology solutions to customers based in
Florida and the Caribbean. More recently, Ray was
Vice President of Business Development and partner at
PSSI, a startup project management consulting firm
specializing in MS Project Server implementations and MS
Project training. Ray’s sales leadership grew the
business from startup to being a significant industry
force in under two years.
Ray lives with his wife
of 30 years, Toni in Tampa bay and is a passionate and
accomplished gourmet chef, sailor, cartoonist and enjoys
training his 2 year old Border Collie.
Alvin
Chang, Consultant Extraordinaire
Alvin has over 15 years of
experience as a Sybase, Microsoft & Oracle DBA. He has
co-authored many books and articles. Alvin has taught
Adaptive Server and Microsoft SQL Server throughout the
United States. Currently specializing in Sybase Adaptive
Server and Microsoft SQL Server Administration. Alvin has
over 15 years of DBA experience, and is skilled at
maintaining, tuning and developing applications. Alvin is
very sought after for his training ability. Many customers
will ask for him specifically, once he has been in their
classroom.
Peter Dobler,
Dobler Consulting, Accomplished IT professional with more than twenty two
years of experience in software development, database
management and infrastructure management with proven
ability to successfully implement cutting edge technology,
managing multiple complex technology projects and
implementing procedures and policies to improve
efficiencies and reduce cost. Multilingual information
technology expert with extensive business experience
owning and operating a consulting company in Switzerland
and the United States.
Doug Sharkey,
Sharkbyte Consulting
Doug
Sharkey has been developing software applications for over
20 years. Doug started as a junior programmer in the days
of Structured Programming and is pleased to see the
industry evolve to the Object Oriented Methodologies in
acceptance today. Along the way Doug has performed as a
Programmer, Technical Lead, Director Of Order Processing
Development, Certified Database Administrator, Database
Manager, and System Architect. Most of Doug's experience
is in the Wall Street Community but he also has experience
in Media Research and Reporting. Doug has a long history
of leading teams to the delivery of software applications.

Abhay
Trivedi, PHD., PMP, CSSBB, Sr
Management Consultant
Dr. Trivedi is a seasoned consultant with over 20 years
of experience assessing complex business problems,
evaluating alternatives, and implementing technology
solutions in multiple industries:
automotive, oil & gas, transportation, consumer,
electronics and
services.
He is skilled at formulating business systems
strategies to leverage technology investments.
In recent years, he has focused on business
process assessment, strategic planning, product life cycle
management, profit assessment, and six sigma.
He is PMP certified
by PMI; Six
Sigma Black Belt certified by ISSSC; and holds a
Professional
Logistics/Supply Chain Certification from The
Logistics Institute at Georgia Institute of Technology.
He holds a Ph.D. in
Industrial Engineering.
Prior to joining
Soaring Eagle Consulting, Inc., Abhay was a Management
Consultant in the Project Management and Systems
Engineering practice of Solving International New York).
In
his role as Management Consultant he has consulted with
some of the largest Fortune 100 companies including
Visteon Corporation, Intel, Siemens, Motorola, BMW-MG
Rover, Eaton Corporation and British Petroleum (BP) on
issues such as six sigma strategy, cost reduction, project
management and systems engineering. In addition he has
been a NASA and ORNL Summer Research fellow.

Ravi Nanda
is a Database Technology Specialist for Soaring Eagles’
Database Architecture and Database Administration Division.
Ravi Nanda is a Database Technology Specialist for Soaring
Eagles’ Database Architecture and Database Administration
Division. Ravi has over 13 years of MS SQL Server experience
going back as far as Version 6.0 when SQL Server and Sybase
split off. Ravi’s background includes working in disparate
industries such as Consulting, Health Care, Payroll, Retail,
State Government, and Telecom. He has hands-on experience
working on projects and in production environments with
multi-terabyte database systems. He has extensive experience
in database development, database administration, database
modeling, and in database architecture. His range of
experience includes working with Replication, data archiving,
SAN disk architecture, Clustering, and Performance tuning. One
of Ravi’s’ recent accomplishments was delivering and executing
an architecture plan to migrate a client to SQL Server 2008 on
a clustered environment using 64 bit technology and sql
replication. He also has experience with setting up,
configuring, monitoring of Precise i³ monitoring tool
to troubleshoot and offer solutions to alleviate contention in
SQL Server. Ravi actively participates in online blogs like
SQL Server Central, newsgroups, local SQL Server user group
meetings, and volunteer for local not for profit organizations
like SQL Saturday.
